The Ministry of Justice's 19th century invoicing system
The Ministry of Justice uses an oursourced finance company called Liberata to handle invoices and payments.
Despite having been outsourced presumably to save money, it insists that all invoices are sent by post to it. Fax, email or more advanced transactions are all forbidden. I just spent an hour today dealing with an invoicing process that should have taken 30 seconds.

Josh W notes: Post does have serious advantages over email,(an email is ridiculously easy to "steam open") but secure internet communication has advantages over both. They should allow secure transfer of xml files using a webpage, that also acts as a standardised form.
